Backyard animals like deer, foxes, raccoons, rabbits, and many others are considered pests when they show up on people's backyards. Why? because they perceived as dangerous, eat the plants from gardens, or leave their droppings near the property, is that it? Let's think about it this way, for years we have been destroying their forest to build our homes, roads, and other buildings such as data centers and as well as hotels and such. Evidently, We took away their homes and their main food source. We may still not use them today in the way that our ancestors did, although they do help our community grow. These animals are the soul reason, human life was able to survive, so why not give back to the community that never stops giving. I'm not saying to stop building, what I'm saying is to be more considerate for these animals and what they have been through. If possible find land that is able to be used as sacntuaries just for the animals or make sure that every time trees are cut down, new ones are planted as soon as possible. In fact Crayola has pledged that for every tree that they chop down to make their products another one is planted somewhere else. Don't be afraid to do your part for these creatures who want nothing more then for a safe peaceful place to live.
Instead of trying to keep the animals away from your garden, how about adding a few plants to attract them. This is a good way to add some life to your garden or landscape and help the animals who are desperate for a meal. Few examples of good plants to add include,
-California Blackberry (Quail)
-Sunflowers (Finches, chickadees, sparrows, jays raccoons, squirrels..etc)
-Shrubs (deer)
- Just a regular bird feeder (They attract a wide variety of birds and squirrels aswell
Here are also a few humane ways to keep those animals away from any type of property, to keep both people and the animals safe from harm.
-Build a fence
-Place human hair near your garden (sounds weird and crazy but works)
-Use motion sensing lights or sounds
-Scent based repellants
