This week we got to shadow veterinarians, which is basically where we got hands on interaction with some of the daily hassles of a vet. There was definitely a lot going on, and let's just say that every day is something new and unexpected. A day in a life of a veterinarian is like a new adventure, animals have no way of communicating with us human beings so it's harder for a vet to figure out what's wrong them. The owner can only go so far as to say what is wrong with their pet, the rest is up to the vet. Obviously, we know that all veterinarians work very hard and most likely love animals. But sometimes the best way of treating the animals aren't always humane. The office we visited had a very humane and friendly atmosphere, the staff always make sure to keep both them selves and the animals safe from harm. They make sure the animal doesn't get too stressed and always rewards them with lots of love and treats at the end. We trust our own pets in the hands of this office. We visited some other *offices in our area as well, one of them did not handle our pets with tender, love, and care. One of us took our parakeets for a simple beak and nail trim. This particular office grabbed them without warning there for severely stressing them out, and instead of trying to calm them down they immediately took them to another room. When the vet came back the poor bird's beak was cut flat, they didn't even bother to file it back into shape, it was also much too short, same could be said about his nails. They never went back to that office. Our pets are a member of our family's, they deserve the best medical care to keep them happy and healthy. Just as your grandmother or your father. You want to keep them healthy and fit. So it's crucial to do plenty of research and ask around to see which option is the best for your pet.
